Owned by the same family since 1800, the Val d’Arguenon is a superb 16th- and 18th-century residence set in a park directly overlooking the sea. Guests stay here to enjoy the beaches, numerous golf courses, and to sample regional specialties.
This residence has been inhabited by illustrious figures. The Prince of Condé was received here in the 16th century. It was the family home of Chateaubriand, uncle of the writer and father of Armand de Chateaubriand, correspondent of the Princes between France and England until 1809.
In the 19th century, it became a romantic residence where poets gathered.
